How to add a watch-only account
Adding a watch-only account (also known as “read-only”) allows you to check the balance and activity of any account without needing to import its mnemonic phrase. You won’t be able to sign from a watch-only account, but it provides a convenient way to review the balance of, for instance, one of your offline accounts and sign with its proxy account if present in the wallet.
To add a watch-only account to PolkaGate, follow the steps below:
1. Click on the menu button in the top right corner of the extension.
2. Expand the menu "Import account."
3. Click "Add watch-only account."
4. The following screen will enable you to enter the account's public address (referred to as "Account ID"), assign a name to it for easier differentiation from your other accounts in PolkaGate, and choose the chain on which you'd like to monitor that account.
5. Click "Add" and that's it! The account will be shown in PolkaGate labeled as "Watch-only."
