How to manage your stake
ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW
You can also select "All accounts" if you want to view the staking of all your accounts.
If you want to take staking actions from this view, as described in this article, you will need to also select the account to use during the steps described in the next sections.
1. From any screen, select the account you are staking with by clicking on the accounts menu:
2. Then click on the "Earning" icon at the bottom:
3. This will take you to the Staking screen, where you can see the staking status of your selected account:
4. Click on your stake to view details about its status. You can click on the drop-down menus to get more information regarding your current stake:
From this screen, you also have access to all staking actions.
ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW
Some staking actions might be disabled (like "Withdraw unstaked funds" and "Claim rewards" in the screenshot above).
This means that the selected account does not have any funds related to these actions (like unbonded funds ready to be withdrawn or pool rewards to be claimed). It could also mean that the selected network doesn't support these functions.
How to increase your stake
‼️ IMPORTANT
If you are a pool member, when you increase your stake any pending rewards will be automatically claimed as transferable balance in your account.
If you want to bond more tokens, either to your stake in a pool or to your direct nominations, follow these steps:
1. Access the staking actions for the selected account as described above.
2. Click on "Stake more":
3. Enter the amount you want to add to your stake and click "Stake." The available amount of your account is also displayed above the amount field:
4. In the next screen, review and approve the extrinsic, and you're done! Your additional stake will be taken into account in the next era.
How to claim rewards from a nomination pool
ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW
Staking rewards are ready to be paid out to nominators, including pools, after the end of each era (24 hours on Polkadot, 7 days on Kusama).
These payouts are manual, however, and need to be initiated by someone. Anyone can initiate them, but they are usually done by the validators themselves soon after an era ends.
Once a pool receives its rewards from the nominated validator, these are automatically allocated pro rata to the pool members.
If you are staking through a nomination pool, you will need to claim your rewards periodically.
1. Access the staking actions for the selected account as described above. This action is available only for accounts that are members of a pool.
2. Click on the "Claim rewards" button:
3. On the next screen, you can see the amount of rewards you are about to claim. You can choose to have the rewards added to your stake in the pool (default) or uncheck the checkbox to receive them as transferable balance in your account. Then, click "Continue":
4. On the next screen, review the details of the extrinsic, click "Approve," and you're done! You've just claimed your pool rewards!
How to unbond
‼️ IMPORTANT
Contrary to direct nominations, pool members cannot rebond during the unbonding period.
‼️ IMPORTANT
If you are a pool member, when you unbond, either part or the full bond, any pending rewards will be automatically claimed as transferable balance in your account.
If you want to unbond either part or all of your staked tokens, follow these steps:
1. Access the staking actions for the selected account as described above.
2. Click on the "Unstake" button:
3. In the next screen, enter the amount you want to unbond:
On the same screen, you can see the amount currently bonded under the "Amount" field, as well as your account's available balance above it. You can also see the unbonding period of the network (28 days for Polkadot, 7 days for Kusama).
You can click the "Max" button to unbond all your funds. In this case, please note the following:
- If you are nominating directly, you will stop nominating (your account will be chilled.)
- If you are a pool member, at the end of the unbonding period, you will leave the pool.
- During the unbonding period, you don't earn staking rewards.
ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW
If you try to unbond enough funds to drop your remaining bond below the minimum needed to earn rewards, Subwallet will outline the amount in red and prevent you from unbonding. Consider unbonding either less or the full amount.
4. Once you have filled in the amount, click "Unstake":
5. On the next screen, review the details of the extrinsic and click "Approve."
How to withdraw unbonded funds
Once the unbonding period is complete, you need to withdraw the unbonded funds in order to make them transferable in your account.
1. Access the staking actions for the selected account described above, and click "Withdraw."
2. On the next screen, review the details, and if everything looks correct, click "Continue." Then, review all the extrinsic details and click "Approve":
ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW
If you had initiated more than one unbondings, you will need to perform this action for each one of them.
How to rebond during the unbonding period
‼️ IMPORTANT
Contrary to direct nominations, pool members cannot rebond during the unbonding period.
For direct nominations, you can rebond your funds before the unbonding period ends.
1. Access the staking actions for the selected account as described above.
2. Click on the "Withdraw info" drop-down and click "Cancel unstaking."
3. On the next screen, if you have more than one active unbonds click on the drop-down menu to select which one you want to rebond. Then, click "Approve":
4. On the next screen, review the details of the extrinsic and click "Approve." Your funds will be rebonded right away, and the new bonded amount will be taken into account in the next era.
