PolkaGate is a Polkadot wallet developed and maintained by PolkaGate Foundation. It is an open-source browser extension available for Mozilla Firefox and Chromium-based browsers, funded by the Kusama Treasury. PolkaGate is compatible with many DApps and tools in the ecosystem.

How to create your first account


‼️ IMPORTANT

PolkaGate is a non-custodial wallet, which means that only you have access to your accounts. For this reason it is imperative that you keep your mnemonic phrase and backup file with a password safe. Without either of these, it is impossible to restore your account if you ever lose access to it.


1. If you don't have the extension, download it from https://polkagate.xyz/ and then click on "Create a new account":




2. In this step, the mnemonic phrase will be displayed after you click the obscured central section. Be aware of the potential consequences of losing the recovery phrase or allowing unauthorized access to it. Once this is done, mark the checkbox and click "Continue":

Although PolkaGate offers the convenience of downloading or copying your mnemonic phrase to the clipboard, it is strongly recommended that you don't do that!

Write your mnemonic phrase on paper and store it in a safe and secret location! Do not share it with anyone!

3. Name your account and enter your wallet password. Click "Create account" to finalize the process:



4. Now, enter your password to unlock your wallet, and you'll see that your account has been successfully created:



How to create an additional account


If you already have an account and want to create another one, follow the steps below to do so.


1. Click at the top of your extension where your accounts appear:



2. Click on "Create a new account":



3. A new window will appear. The mnemonic phrase associated with the new account that you are creating will be displayed after you click the obscured central section. Be aware of the potential consequences of losing the recovery phrase or allowing unauthorized access to it. Once this is done, mark the checkbox and click "Continue":
