There are several wallets developed by teams that have received funding by the community from Polkadot or Kusama's Treasury. These wallets provide a convenient way of interacting with Polkadot's applications on a daily basis, thanks to their user-friendly UI/UX. Below is a list of some of these wallets, available on various devices and operating systems.

ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW

These third-party wallets are all non-custodial and have been funded by the community through either the Polkadot or Kusama treasury. All of them are highly reputable and can offer assistance to their users on their respective official sites.

Cold Storage Wallets (offline)

Hardware wallets offer the capability to store your account offline while still enabling you to access and use your Polkadot account at your convenience. Some of these hardware wallets are listed below.

Polkadot Vault

You can install Polkadot Vault (rebranded from Parity Signer) on an old smartphone reset to factory defaults, which you will keep in airplane mode. This way, you can turn your old phone into a cold storage wallet.

Ledger

Another secure option is the Ledger wallet which supports Polkadot. You can use it natively with Ledger Live or connect it to many of the wallets mentioned in this article and directly to the Staking Dashboard

Third-Party Wallets

Numerous third-party wallets have been built by the community or funded in other ways. You can find a list of them on community websites like Dotinsights. Open-source projects are also listed in our Wiki.

We cannot provide support for these wallets. However, most of them are user-friendly and have their own documentation and support teams ready to help.

Wallets for developers and power users

The following wallets have been developed by Parity. There are many useful articles on our Support page to help you use and address issues with these wallets, and you can always contact us if you need support.

ℹ️ GOOD TO KNOW

These wallets are mostly created with developers and advanced users in mind, and although they provide advanced functionality, they might not be very user-friendly. For a more user-friendly experience, you can use one of the many wallets developed by other teams, listed above.

Polkadot browser extension

The Polkadot extension is an account manager and will work in all Chromium-based browsers (Chrome, Brave, Edge) and Firefox. It is recommended to store your accounts in the extension and not on Polkadot-JS UI directly.

Because the extension only manages your keys and allows you to sign transactions, it needs to interact with a UI to show information about your accounts (like their balance) and to make transactions with them. It can be Polkadot-JS UI (below) or any compatible Web 3.0 app in the Polkadot ecosystem. With the Polkadot extension, you can connect your accounts to most of them.

Polkadot-JS UI (user interface)

The Polkadot-JS UI web wallet contains advanced features designed for developers and power users, such as multi-sig accounts and switching signature schemes. It supports the full functionality that Substrate chains have to offer.

Subkey (needs technical knowledge)

Subkey is a command-line utility meant for advanced users.
